"I have known Tony for several years following my sister moving into a service he managed. My first impressions of Tony were that he was kind, caring and put thought into his day-to-day decisions. I have spoken in depth on numerous occasions with him about how my sister sees the world and the struggle that this can bring, Tony always made me feel listened to and provided comfort that her support was always looking to improve her quality of life. Tony always ensured that he is person centred and recognises that ‘one size fits all’ approach to care is not beneficial. Whenever my sister needed some changes to her support, it was changed without question. When I spoke with Tony he was always reflecting on situations and wanted my feedback on ideas that he had to improve the care and support that they were providing. This gave me great comfort knowing that he was not happy to settle for complacency in supporting my sister and was involving me in the process. It was a big step for our family moving my sister in to supported living, however our worries were soon to be in the past when I realised how much Tony cared about the clients he supports. I spoke about how it’s difficult to trust other people to provide a good level of care and support and he provided me with the trust and confidence that I no longer had to worry. My sister does need consistency in her support, and this was acknowledged without question- this highlighted to me how adaptable and safe he was as the manager. When I visit my sister, she would often speak about the jokes and positive experiences she shared with Tony, and it was clear to me that she saw him as one of the key sources to her support. Our family would not have been able to take the steps that we have without Tony being such an integral part of all our lives. I am eternally thankful for him being there for my sister more than anything."
